Munk GmbH celebrates its anniversary – with innovation at the market and commitment at home.
For 55 years, Munk GmbH has stood for reliable technology, regional roots, and innovative solutions in power supply. What began in 1970 in Hamm-Rhynern has evolved into a strong brand in the industry — with customers worldwide but deeply anchored locally. Despite its international outlook, the company remains loyal to its home: as a committed employer, reliable regional partner, and supporter of local initiatives.
The anniversary “55 Years of Munk GmbH” perfectly exemplifies the often-cited combination of tradition and innovation. What the team, now around 150 employees strong, is celebrating today is the result of a consistent journey marked by many milestones and a determined look into the future. Since its founding, the company has remained true to its headquarters in the Rhynern industrial park. “We are firmly rooted here. Nothing will pull us away!” emphasize the managing brothers, Thorsten and Frank Munk.
Not only because of the festive anniversary, but also due to a sorrowful occasion, they feel a heartfelt duty to carry the legacy of Munk into the world. Shortly before reaching its 55th anniversary, Munk GmbH had to say farewell to its founder. In 1970, Karl Heinz Munk laid the foundation for everything the current team holds in grateful honor and carries responsibly into the future.
A strong drive for research and development has always been embedded in Munk’s DNA. Thanks to significant investments, this typically Westphalian family business has repeatedly brought key innovations in industrial power supply solutions to the market over the decades. Beyond business, Munk has also channeled a great deal of “power” into local, social, and environmental initiatives.
This enabled the company from Hamm-Rhynern to build a strong reputation — first within Westphalia, then across Germany and Europe, and eventually globally. The solution competence originating from the industrial park near the A2 motorway is highly sought after and well-established in the global industry — as well as in the local association and career landscape.
Munk sees great future potential particularly in the U.S. market. Alongside concrete expansion plans for the United States, Munk already has an established network of global partners across Europe, Asia, Turkey, the U.S., and South America.

From the beginning, the founding family has been deeply involved in local club life. Thus, the “company next door” also provides excitement and the right technology beyond the industrial sector.
Munk is particularly proud to be the main sponsor of SV Westfalia Rhynern. A strong focus on development is also evident here, such as the former “Tünnern Blick” sports field, which became the “Westfalia Campus powered by Munk” in 2024.
Munk GmbH has never shied away from looking beyond its traditional markets and continues to expand into new horizons. Future-oriented sectors such as hydrogen technology, water treatment, and medical technology are set to be increasingly shaped by Munk’s expertise.
Already today, Munk actively supports regional hydrogen initiatives in Hamm, Dortmund, and the Unna district. By participating in national hydrogen clusters, the company is enhancing its adaptability and building robust expertise for the future. Alongside strategic market development, the technological advancement of products and solutions remains in full swing.
The performance of Munk’s products continues to rise, as does their energy efficiency and sustainability. Beyond its core competencies, the company actively embraces ecological responsibility. With a 250 kWp photovoltaic system on its rooftop and multiple e-charging stations on-site, Munk’s guiding principle “We Have The Power” can be understood far beyond just industrial supply.
With a state-of-the-art corporate strategy, digitalization has also found its place in the product portfolio: Smart solutions like the “Munk Area Network (MAN)” and the Munk Gateway are driving Industry 4.0 forward. Additionally, all company facilities are continuously modernized with premium equipment.
In terms of modern corporate design and active social media presence, this traditional company from Rhynern is keeping up with the times. The company’s hallmark — the distinctive orange tone — continues to symbolize Munk GmbH’s innovative and progressive, yet also creative, lively, and energetic spirit.
These characteristic traits are appreciated by customers worldwide — as well as by many local and international professionals. While skilled workers have generally been scarce since the pandemic, Team Munk has grown by 15% between 2019 and 2025, now numbering around 150 members. Simultaneously, farewells are celebrated with due honor — after decades of loyalty: in March 2025, three dedicated “Munk makers” retired after incredible 46, 40, and 30 years of service.
The growth of the team and employee loyalty are largely attributable to Munk’s strong commitment to training and apprenticeships, with 15% of the workforce being trainees. Careers at Munk begin, among others, for EU industrial clerks, industrial mechanics, and electricians for operational technology — and employees tend to stay for the long term. Even NRW Minister Karl-Josef Laumann, Mayor Marc Herter, and the Hamm economic development agency IMPULS were personally impressed during the 2024 skilled labor tour.
Even those not (yet) part of Team Munk may have glimpsed behind the scenes at Gewerbepark 8. Munk knows that technical passion and motivated future professionals are nurtured well before official training begins. That’s why Munk consciously continues the “Talent Tour” for school classes originally initiated by the BVMW.
