Tap transformer technology, synthetic liquid-cooled

Application
Tap transformer technology is used in numerous industrial applications where a reliable and efficient DC power supply is required. Typical areas of application include strip galvanizing, conventional electroplating, and demanding high-current processes. It offers a stable and robust solution for DC-based processes in surface technology.

Product Description
Tap transformer technology is a proven and durable design featuring an energy-efficient hybrid cooling concept. The entire power section is integrated into a housing with synthetic coolant. A circulation pump combined with a heat exchanger ensures that the generated waste heat is reliably dissipated via the customer’s cooling water.

This sustainable cooling concept not only enables efficient operation but also allows for the utilization of waste heat. With high water inlet temperatures of approx. 45 °C, return temperatures of up to 60-65 °C can be achieved, unlocking additional energy potential.

Customer Benefits
This tap transformer technology is primarily used in the range of ≥ 3,000 A up to 15,000 A. Due to the high degree of protection (IP 54) and its relatively compact form, installation close to the process is usually possible. With the help of a sustainable heat recovery concept, users can optimize their energy costs accordingly.

FAQ

What is ECO tap transformer technology?

With ECO tap transformer technology, all power components are fully immersed in synthetic coolant, providing optimal protection without an external cooling water supply.
ECO tap transformer technology is primarily used in the range from 1,000 A to over 15,000 A and is suitable for conventional job platers, chrome processes, and special applications.
ECO units achieve degree of protection IP 54 (tank), making them particularly robust against dust and splashing water—ideal for direct use in electroplating lines.
Control is either mechanical via a motor-driven tap transformer or electronic via analog signals for constant-voltage and constant-current operation.
Yes, ECO tap transformer technology is also available in a version with combined synthetic and water cooling (ECO-Power), enabling particularly efficient heat dissipation.
